"Christian" and "men" aren't words you typically hear used in the same sentence.
It isn't that men can't be or don't want to be Christians. Instead, far too frequently, many churches have been more "woman-friendly" than "man-friendly." Often, programs, worship services, and special events have been geared to appeal to women and kids. There's nothing wrong with MOPS programs, Women's Circles, and Sunday School Christmas programs (complete with miniature shepherds dressed in over-sized bathrobes). Churches need to do those things.
At Mountain View, we're also intentional about providing opportunities for men to experience God in masculine ways. One of our most popular activities for men is a monthly breakfast followed by a discussion of a Bible passage or other topic.
While we take the Bible and it's message to us seriously, if you drop in on us, you might think you'd stumbled into Red and the guys at Possum Lodge. We've had some great conversations about the Bible, as well as books like Wild at Heart, Man in the Mirror, The Case for Faith, The Case for Christ, and others.
Come on in and join us. First Saturday of the month. First time visitors don't have to help with the dishes.
